Biography

Real Timpani is an Italian musical ensemble operating at the intersection of electronics, improvisation, and hybrid musical approaches. The live lineup features Jacopo Biffi (synthesizers and electronics), Matteo Pontegavelli (trumpet), and Pietro Vicentini (drums), with Giulia Guerra handling art direction and production behind the scenes. Their music is built on multilayered soundscapes, where relentless sequences and rhythms blend with subtle, ethereal ambient atmospheres. The interplay between trumpet, drums, and electronics lies at the core of their sound—a continuous dialogue between natural and synthetic tones that intertwine into a living, pulsating flow, transporting the listener into a deep and immersive world. Real Timpani has released six EPs, including their debut The Great Torre (2023), the RXT triptych, and the double single Venti e Zabrisky. all released via Funclab Records and distributed by Universal Music Italia. The group has solidified its musical identity and established itself within the Italian scene, supported by the booking agency All Things Live (formerly Radar Concerti) and managed by 7tons. Their work has been featured by Claudia Durastanti in her "Canzoni" column for Internazionale, as well as in the music publication Rumore. The project has also found a home on the airwaves, introduced by Pino Saulo on Rai Radio 3's Battiti, where it was warmly received by listeners, gaining the band visibility with a broader audience.
